April Action Plan

Renae Rountree May 5, 2017

April’s Action Plan wants 3 outcomes. Since I was slightly behind the curve on my meetings, I went into my meetings thinking about outcomes and how to measure them. There are two possible ways that I might end up with outcomes with my project. After talking with Ms. White about the AVID program, it seems like goals, outcomes, and impact measurements are built into the curriculum. This might mean that I don’t have to actually develop the outcomes since there are already in place. I will have to do more research into this aspect of the AVID program to be sure though. However, I am not going to assume that my work will be done for me. Instead, I have developed the following 3 outcomes for the project:

Outcome 1:

75 % of the students attending the 6 monthly local business guest speaker talks during the 2017-2018 school year will be able to list 3 services or key activities that the business engages in on a regular basis.

Outcome 2:

Of the 15 businesses approached as a partner for shadowing opportunities, 40% will become partners for summer 2018.

Outcome 3:

30% of students in the Roulhac Middle School AVID program will participate in the 2018 summer shadowing project.

Outcome 1 will be evaluated by a survey after the guest speaker talks. With outcome 2, signed letters or emails of participation from the businesses will serve as the measurement of success. Finally, with outcome 3, signup sheets along with a student report after each shadowing assignment will demonstrate the number of students who actively engaged in the program.
