Resource: UMN's Website on Historical Trauma

Here’s my recommended resource: the University of Minnesota’s resource page for Historical Trauma.  Historical Trauma is a complex, profound, and cyclical “constellation of characteristics” stemming from a massive cross-generational group trauma.  In Native communities and communities of color, Historical Trauma perpetuates poverty, illness, unemployment, the fracturing of family structures, etc.  No matter where you live or where you work, I highly recommend taking a look at this website, particularly the embedded YouTube video.  On the Leech Lake Nation, the themes we’ve been discussing--workforce development, college and career readiness, social & emotional learning--are all hindered by Historical Trauma.  Here, healing helps form the foundation of community development.
