July, August, September and October Activities!

Carol Lo July 5, 2017

Hi all,

This month, we begin a new strategy for each month's activity. Since we’re more than half way into the year with Future Ready with the Library, we want YOU to share what you are doing and learning with the entire group. To facilitate that goal, for the next four months, we’re going to ask each of the small groups to take the lead in sharing each group member’s Activity Template (the one you started for your June Activity) for your plan of action and at least one resource discovered during your research. It can be an article, Ted talk or other video, or anything else you’ve found interesting that relates to middle school students and their college and career awareness, readiness, social emotional learning, or any topic that’s relevant to the work of this group. The group schedule is this:

July:      Far Flung Futurists                    August:   Awesome

September: CAPS                                   October:    Newbies

The first group will start to post sometime during the first week of July. We know the FFFs are ready for this task! So, talk with your group. Decide who would like to post their Activity Template during the first, second, third and fourth week of your given month. These Activity Templates can (and should be) considered a work in progress. Not every detail will need to be filled in or some of the details may change in the work up to the event. You may get some feedback from the group that helps you fill in some of the details or sort some of your questions and concerns out.

In the interest of simplicity, whomever is posting for the Template week should just go ahead and post their resource article, etc. that week also.  Post the resource in a separate post from your ActivityTemplate. Be sure to tag the resource with “Resource List”. Post both Template and Resource on the Cohort 1 group site.

The rest of us are encouraged to read and respond to each Template and/or Resource in the Comment Section of that post. Don’t create a new post in order to respond. That way, each person will have all comments on their Activity Template and their suggested resource in one place.

I attached the Activity Template below for your convenience. And just in case anyone is looking for the full Activity Sheet list (all of the weekly activities), here's the link to that  Google Doc.

Questions? Please, oh, please let us know if you have them.
